HP-24 Project

Update 8 September 2003: Folding and Spindling

This morning I brought the armature tube down from the shop so I could set it up with the foam cores for the aft fuselage. The next part is to make adapters between the 6" OD aluminum spindle tube and the 1" water pipe that will serve as the aft extension. That extension also tees into the pipe that supports the vertical stabilizer. We made these adapters once before when we used the aluminum tube as the stacking spindle for the forward fuselage plug. However, those adapters have gotten somewhat beat up in the process of building the fuselage plug, and lack the tee provision I need to mount the vertical stabilizer.

Fortunately, this time I've got a lathe at my disposal, so it should be a lot easier to make the adapters.
